PGSO13
Seismic Interpretation
Who Should Attend: Geologists, geophysicists, and engineers who use seismic data for petroleum exploration and/or production . Learning Expectations: This course is designed to help participants gain an understanding of the seismic system, its limitations and pitfalls, and by interpreting 2-D and 3-D seismic examples of structural and stratigraphic features associated with actively producing hydrocarbon areas. This course addresses several questions such as how to observe the reservoir on seismic, How large is the reservoir, whether the well cut a fault, how to use seismic tie a set of wells. It also addresses structural traps, understanding when the structure is valid or a seismic artifact, when these reflections real or multiples, and how to combine structural and stratigraphic interpretations to develop a structural and depositional history.
